SELF-PORTRAIT WORKSHOP

About The Course

The artist’s self-portrait has always been a memorable image – to view AND to produce. The nature of observing oneself critically comes with it all the emotions that become reflected in the final piece. This course aims to provide technical instruction and assistance to the student to guide them through the process of observation in the mirror and execution on the paper.

In the Mirror – On the Paper
Each student will be utilizing their own mirror to view himself/herself which will be placed adjacent to their paper/canvas to allow for 1 to 1 comparisons to be made. Initial drawing will be done with pencil to achieve accuracy prior to transferring the image on to canvas for painting. Students wishing to carry on with rendering their drawing in lieu of painting may do so.
