Daily Timetable: 9:30am to 4:30pm (one hour lunch break)
Max number of students: 8
This short course aims to introduce students to the setup, design and execution of still-life painting. Using the sight-size method of approach, students will be guided through a step-by-step process involving accurate drawing and creative placement of objects on the canvas, true to life colour observation and a varying of brush techniques for different textural effects.
Two students work from one still life set up supplied with professional photographic lights and still life boxes. Limited to 10 students, this is a wonderful opportunity for close personalised instruction under a professional tutor. The workshop room is located within the main school of The London Atelier of Representational Art allowing for use of the main facilities of the full time school.
The End Result
By working for six hours each day over the five day period each student leaves with a competent, well observed still life painting. The thirty hour study allows for full understanding of the full process of setting up, painting and completing a still life.
Materials are not provided and students will need to bring their own materials with them. Materials list will be provided after booking.
Still-life Setups and Objects
Students may bring along a few objects of which they have interest in painting - bearing in mind the size of the painting will be relatively small, around 30 x 40cm. A few objects will also be provided in class to choose from and we will be setting up the individual setups together.
